An Airman with the Air Force Communications Agency here is one of the U.S. Junior Chamber of Commerce’s 2005 10 Outstanding Young Americans of 2005.

Master Sgt. Karen Petitt, managing editor of the Air Force warfighting integration community’s Intercom magazine, will receive the award Sept. 17 in Boston.

Annually since 1938, chamber officials have chosen 10 young people who best exemplify the finest attributes of America’s youthful achievers. Nominees must be 21 to 40 years old and American citizens or citizenship applicants.

Sergeant Petitt was nominated based upon her many accomplishments as an Air Force public affairs specialist and her 2004 deployment to Baghdad. She was also recognized for her work with youth programs, volunteer efforts around the local community, and moral and religious leadership within her church, the Boy Scouts and a local girl’s camp, Junior Chamber of Commerce officials said.
