Air Force officials announce small business winners

The acting secretary of the Air Force recognized the 2004 Secretary of the Air Force Small and Disadvantaged Business Awards recipients during a ceremony July 8.

“My heartfelt thanks go to you for what you do, and for the great value-added contributions you make to the Air Force and the nation," said Michael L. Dominguez. "Congratulations on rising to the top in a very challenging career field, and for being a great part of what makes the Air Force team successful.”

The 2004 Small Business Award winners are:

-- Secretary of the Air Force Special Achievement Award, Activity: Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio; and the 460th Space Wing at Buckley AFB, Colo.

-- Secretary of the Air Force Special Achievement Award, Individual: Arthur Dinwiddie of the 37th Contracting Squadron at Lackland AFB, Texas; and Elizabeth Bryant of the 460th Contracting Squadron at Buckley AFB.

-- Outstanding Contribution to the Small Business Program by a Contracting Team: Air Force Medical Service Commodity Council, Core Team at Wright-Patterson AFB.

-- Outstanding contribution to the Small Business Program by a Contracting Individual: Reinette Alecozay of the Air Education and Training Command’s contracting squadron at Randolph AFB, Texas.

“What this group accomplished is particularly noteworthy, since 2004 was a banner year for Air Force Small Business. We had the highest Small Business contract awards ever, and also exceeded the goals in more categories than ever,” said Joseph Diamond, Air Force office of small and disadvantaged business utilization director.

“The wing commanders and support group commanders really played a vital role in promoting the advocacy of small business, and we thank them for that,” he said.
