Observers from the Bangladesh air force are attending this year’s Cooperative Cope Thunder to help prepare for their first participation in 2007.

Their observation included a facilities tour such as the flightline, hangar bays and ramp space.

“While here, we’ve had many questions about Cope Thunder and what goes on,” said Bangladeshi Group Capt. Humayum Kabir Raju. “We’ve seen how the coordination for flying -- planning, executing and debriefing -- goes. It is similar to what we do, so we realize we have a lot in common in this area.

“Our people are well trained, but exercising in an electronic warfare environment can only add to our tactical skills,” Captain Raju said.

Each day the Bangladeshi airmen have observed the interaction of other countries to get a general idea of what they will do when they return with their aircraft.

“It’s always good to share experiences and knowledge and maybe find a better way to do things,” said Bangladeshi Wing Cmdr. Haider Abdullah, a C-130 pilot. “I’m amazed at the technological advancement that’s used here because it immediately gives a clear picture on how we can improve our tactics.”

Both Captain Raju and Commander Abdullah said they look forward to working with other countries and experiencing multinational training when Bangladeshi airmen participate with a C-130 in 2007.
