Tech, master promotion rates announced

Air Force officials have selected 6,630 of 25,454 eligible technical sergeants for promotion to master sergeant; and 9,116 of 43,379 eligible staff sergeants for promotion to technical sergeant.

The master sergeant selection rate rose 0.10 percent from last year to 26.05 percent, while this year's technical sergeant rate dropped 0.56 percent from last year to 21.01 percent.

"The rates this year are very close to last year's rates, but we have more eligibles this year," said Chief Master Sgt. Dale Kenney, Air Force Personnel Center's enlisted promotions branch chief here. "The higher eligibility pool gives us the opportunity to promote more individuals.

"The message is clear," Chief Kenney said. "The opportunity for more responsibility, and the higher rank to go with it, is there for Airmen (who) demonstrate through performance and preparation the desire to be promoted."

The Air Force will release both promotion lists at 9 a.m. CDT on June 16. The complete list of selectees will be posted online at www.afpc.randolph.af.mil/eprom/ by 5 p.m. CDT on June 16.

Score notices will be available on the virtual Military Personnel Flight on June 17.
