Crash victims identified

Department of Defense officials identified the four Airmen who died May 30 in the crash of an Iraqi air force aircraft.

The Airmen, deployed from Hurlburt Field, Fla., were on a training mission in eastern Diyala province when the Iraqi Comp Air 7SL aircraft they were in crashed. An Iraqi pilot was also killed in the crash.

The Airmen are:

-- Maj. William Downs, 40, of Winchester, Va., was a pilot assigned to the 6th Special Operations Squadron.

-- Capt. Jeremy Fresques, 26, of Clarkdale, Ariz., was a special tactics officer assigned to the 23rd Special Tactics Squadron.

-- Capt. Derek Argel, 28, of Lompoc, Calif., was a special tactics officer assigned to the 23rd STS.

-- Staff Sgt. Casey Crate, 26, of Spanaway, Wash., was a combat controller assigned to the 23rd STS.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
