Air Force wins national library awards

The Air Force won three out of four national Library of Congress awards, Federal Library and Information Center Committee officials announced in Washington recently.

The 2004 National Awards for Federal Librarianship recognized two Air Force civilians one base for fulfilling the information demands of government, business and scholarly communities and the American public, library committee officials said.

The Air Force winners are:

-- Federal Librarian of the Year: Barbara Wrinkle, Air Force Library and Information System’s libraries branch chief at Air Force Services headquarters here.

-- 2004 Federal Library Technician of the Year: Mary Alice Mendez, from the Defense Language Institute’s English Language Library at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.

-- Small Library/Information Center Category (with a staff of 10 or fewer federal and/or contract employees): The Edwards AFB Library, Calif.
