Officials announce environmental award winners

Officials recently announced the Air Force, Department of Defense and White House environmental award winners.

The winners of the 2004 Air Force General Thomas D. White Environmental Award are:

-- Environmental Quality Award (Industrial): Tinker Air Force Base, Okla.

-- Environmental Quality Award (Reserve Component): Grissom Air Reserve Base, Ind.

-- *Environmental Quality Award (Overseas): Misawa Air Base, Japan.

-- *Restoration Award (All Installations): Keesler AFB, Miss.

-- Pollution Prevention Award (Non-Industrial): Hurlburt Field, Fla.

-- Natural Resources Conservation Award (Large Installation): Arnold AFB, Tenn.

-- *Cultural Resources Management Award (All Installations): Hickam AFB, Hawaii.

-- *Pollution Prevention Award for Individual and Team Excellence: Tinker AFB Pollution Prevention Team.

-- Cultural Resources Management Award for Individual and Team Excellence: Takeshi Ukon from Misawa AB.

-- National Environmental Policy Act Award for Team Excellence: Eglin AFB Environmental Impact Analysis Process Team.

*These award winners went on to win the 2004 Secretary of Defense Environmental Awards.

The Air Force winners for the 2005 White House Closing the Circle Awards are:

-- Recycling-Military: The recycling center in Little Rock AFB, Ark.

-- Waste Pollution and Prevention-Military: Luke AFB, Ariz.
