Officials announce Air Force Bowl-by-Mail winners

SAN ANTONIO (AFPN) --  Sixteen youth between the ages of 5 and 18 were winners in the Air Force Bowl-by-Mail competition, Air Force Services Agency officials said. They were among more than 3,100 bowlers from 69 bases worldwide.

The teens and preteens bowled a series of games at their installations and mailed the results to their respective major commands. The top three places for each age division were compiled and forwarded to agency officials here and the Air Force winners were selected from the highest scores of the major command bowlers.

“This is the fifth consecutive year for the Bowl-by-Mail program,” said William Dowell, youth specialist at the agency. “The number of bowlers increased by more than 700 from last year. It’s a justification of the popularity and success of the program.”

The overall high game and high series winning youth will be sent a plaque and a certificate.

The winners and their categories are:

High game, ages 5 to 8:

-- Male: Dylan Biasini from F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyo., who rolled a 171.

-- Female: Brianna Hurst from F.E. Warren, who rolled a 152.

High series, ages 5 to 8:

-- Male: Austin Hewlett from Pope AFB, N.C., who rolled a 412.

-- Female: Brianna Hurst from F.E. Warren, who rolled a 351.

High game, ages 9 to 11:

-- Male: Mitchell Powell from Offutt AFB, Neb., who rolled a 219.

-- Female: Sydney Pinkert from Eglin AFB, Fla., who rolled a 208.

High series, ages 9 to 11:

-- Male: Mitchell Powell from Offutt, who rolled a 527.

-- Female: Kandace Peterson from Scott AFB, Ill., who rolled a 502.

High game, ages 12 to 14:

-- Male: Kevin Sobieski from Langley AFB, Va., who rolled a 237.

-- Female: Kim Knapp from Minot AFB, N.D., who rolled a 268.

High series, ages 12 to 14:

-- Male: James Teaters from Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, who rolled a 590.

-- Female: Kim Knapp from Minot, who rolled a 592.

High game, ages 15 to 18:

-- Male: Justin Clapper from Offutt, who rolled a 247.

-- Female: Julie Myhre from Eglin, who rolled a 236.

High series, ages 15 to 18:

-- Male: Justin Clapper from Offutt, who rolled a 699.

-- Female: Rebecca Witt from Offutt, who rolled a 653.
