(AFPN) -- The Air Force Academy track and field team picked up a pair of fourth-place finishes at the annual Air Force Classic here Feb. 5. In a four-team meet that featured University of California, University of Colorado and Colorado State University, the Falcon men finished with 94 points, while the women tallied 98.Paul Gensic was the Falcons’ only event winner. He led a 1-2-3 Air Force sweep in the pole vault, clearing an NCAA provisional mark of 17 feet 4 1/2 inches. Trey Fryman and Joel Nolan finished second and third, respectively, at 15-5 and 14-11.Travis Picou collected a pair of top-three finishes. He finished second in the 200-meter dash at 21.58 seconds and third in the 60-meter dash at 6.91.Devin Hart took third on the long jump at 22-5, while Brian Walsh (Redlands, Calif.) jumped to fifth place at 22-2 1/4. Mark Walter earned a third-place finish in the mile at 4 minutes 15.79 seconds, 0.06 seconds behind the event runner-up, while David McGee earned fourth place with a triple jump distance of 43-8.Jonathan Myers took a fifth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.36. Billy Flynt placed fifth in the 400-meter dash at 49.25, while Caleb Pelger took fifth in the high jump 6-2 3/4.On the women’s side, the Falcons finished second, third and fourth in the 60-meter hurdles, led by Dierra Poland, who crossed the finish line at 8.80. Genelle Chapman and Rachael McIntosh finished second and third, respectively, at 8.86 and 8.87.Jami Hodge also collected a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash at 56.32. The 4x880-yard relay team picked up a second-place finish at 9 minutes 38.55 seconds. The Falcons’ time broke the previous meet record (as did race-winner Colorado).Erin Richardson cleared 10-11 3/4 to finish third on the pole vault, while Kristin Trichler took third in the 800-meter run at 2:18.68 and Kelly Robinson recorded a fourth-place finish in the mile at 5:15.30.Olivia Korte finished fifth in the weight throw, with a toss of 53 feet 9 inches, while Ayana Floyd-James took fifth in the 60-meter dash at 8.06. Chapman earned another top-five finish, placing fifth in the 200-meter dash at 26.34.Colorado State picked up sixth consecutive men’s team title with 154.50 points. Colorado was second with 127.50 points, while California (117) and Air Force (94) rounded out the competition. The Rams also claimed their fifth straight women’s title with 149 points. California was close on their heels with 142 points, while Colorado (116) and Air Force (98) rounded out the women’s meet.The Falcons next head to Seattle on Feb. 12 for the Husky Classic.
