Civilian pilot killed in midair collision with T-37

A civilian pilot was killed after a midair collision of his crop-duster with an Air Force T-37 Tweet in southwestern Oklahoma near the town of Frederick on Jan. 18.

The two military pilots ejected safely. Base officials identified them as Capt. Christopher Otis, an instructor pilot, and 2nd Lt. Roderick James, a student pilot. Both Airmen are assigned to the 80th Flying Training Wing here.

Sheppard pilots use a training airfield in Frederick daily.

Officials are investigating the cause of the collision.
