Falcon gymnasts finish fourth at Rocky Mountain Open Published Jan. 18, 2005 U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AFPN) -- The Air Force Academy men’s gymnastics team opened the season with a fourth-place finish at the Rocky Mountain Open on Jan. 14. In the annual event, Air Force totaled a team score of 184.700.Top-ranked Oklahoma University won the event with a team score of 215.425, while the University of Nebraska finished second at 206.625. Arizona State University claimed third (193.325), while the University of Washington (184.625) and four members from the Olympic Training Center (119.300) finished fifth and sixth, respectively, behind Air Force.Kent Reichle tied for 11th on the floor exercise at 8.550, while Kurt Antonio finished in a tie for 12th on the parallel bars at 8.100. Tyler Sickles had a strong 8.350 on the high bar in his collegiate debut.Antonio also recorded the team’s best marks on the pommel horse (6.550) and still rings (7.700). Edwin Berry tied with Antonio on the pommel horse (6.550) and posted the Falcons’ best vault score with an 8.600. One of just two Falcons competing in the all-around, Antonio finished 10th with a combined score of 45.950. Eric Peele placed 12th in the all-around with a score of 44.450.
