The Air Force Academy women’s basketball team found itself on the losing end of a 47-35 contest against Boise State University here Dec. 10.

Both teams struggles offensively in the first half, shooting less than 27 percent from the field. Air Force (2-6) took the early 4-3 lead, but the Broncos (3-2) responded with 10 unanswered points. The Falcons were able to climb back into the game, taking advantage of four quick Boise State turnovers to put together an 8-0 run.

Letricia Castillo capped off the run with a pair of layups to cut the deficit to 15-14 with just 3:18 remaining in the half; however, Boise State rattled off the last 5 points of the half to take a lead, 20-14.

In the opening minute of the second half, the Falcons cut the margin to 22-18 with a pair of free throws by Alecia Steele. Boise State led by as many as 17 points before cruising to the 47-35 victory.

In addition, the 82 points scored in the game set a new Falcon record for lowest combined offensive output; the previous record of 85 combined points was set in 1977 versus Santa Fe.

Jacki Novak led the Falcons with 8 points and five rebounds, while Steele had 7 points and four rebounds. Castillo finished with 6 points, all in the first half, and a team-high seven rebounds, while Jennifer Roesch also added 6 points.
