Strategic forces authorized service medal Published Dec. 8, 2004 OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. (AFPN) -- The commander of U.S. Strategic Command has authorized the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal for all servicemembers assigned, attached or mobilized to the command for at least 30 consecutive days on or after Sept. 11, 2001.The medal is awarded to people involved in supporting operations against terrorism anywhere in the world. It is worn after the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal. Both follow the Kosovo Campaign Medal. Only one award of this medal may be authorized for any individual; therefore, there are no service stars.
