Lady Falcons tie BYU in soccer Published Oct. 18, 2004 U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AFPN) -- Goalkeeper Jennifer Drew recorded 15 saves as Air Force Academy women’s soccer tied Brigham Young University, 1-1, in a thrilling double-overtime Mountain West Conference match here Oct. 16.In an emotional match, the Falcons willed their way to the tie, despite being out-shot 22-5. BYU’s Jaime Rendich took nine shots, six on goal alone, for the Cougars.The game was a see-saw battle as neither team could score through the first 80 minutes of play. Rendich scored the first goal of the match at the 81:06 mark, as she was able to get an open look inside the box after recovering the ball in a crowd and shot past Drew for the score. Davia King was credited with the assist.Just 47 seconds later, at the 81:53 mark, Air Force stormed right back down the field and scored to tie the match. In similar fashion to Rendich’s goal, Brittney Perkowski was able to get the ball as it bounced around in a crowd and shot into an open net for the score. Elaine Tatarek was credited with the assist.The two teams played to a tie at the end of regulation and then played two scoreless overtime periods to end the match.Drew’s 15 saves tied for third-best all-time in a single game in academy history. Erika Woodbury had three saves in front of the net for BYU.Four academy seniors -- Jennifer Ford, Janie Larned, Jennifer Rowland and Tatarek -- were honored for their contributions to the team in a pre-game ceremony.The Falcons hit the road for their final two regular-season matches, taking on San Diego State on Oct. 22, and University of Nevada-Las Vegas on Oct. 24.
