AF women’s soccer ties Davis, falls to Riverside Published Oct. 4, 2004 CALIFORNIA (AFPN) -- Air Force Academy battled University of California-Davis to a 1-1 double-overtime tie, but fell to UC-Riverside, 3-2, during nonconference women’s soccer action. The Falcons end the nonconference portion of their season at 3-7-1.UC-Davis Aggies (3-6-1) took an early 1-0 lead Oct. 1 at the 34-minute, 42-second mark on Lindsay Raymond’s fifth goal of the year. Air Force rallied to tie the game at the 41:34 mark, as Brittney Perkowski scored her second goal of the season from 30 yards out off a free kick.The Falcons are 3-0-1 in games where Perkowski has scored.The Aggies outshot the Falcons 19-5 and also led 7-2 in corner kicks and 30-17 in fouls.Air Force goalkeeper Jennifer Drew had six saves in the tie.UC-Riverside (10-0-1) got on the scoreboard first Oct. 3, as Amber Plumlee scored two minutes into the match to make it a 1-0 game. The Falcons tied the game just minutes later, at the six-minute mark, as Meredith Benson scored on a header off of Raegan McDowell’s corner kick.The early scoring did not stop as UC-Riverside struck for two more goals just minutes later to take a commanding 3-1 lead. Renee Scachetti scored a pair of goals for the Highlanders, notching her first score at the 10:31 mark and then scoring her second goal at 14:43.The scoring subsisted for the next 50 minutes until Air Force struck for its second score of the game to make it 3-2. Erin Fitzpatrick scored her first career goal with Perkowski and Elaine Tatarek assisting.The Falcons had a couple more late opportunities to tie the game, but could not finish off on several attacks.Drew had four saves in the loss.The Falcons next play the University of Wyoming at the academy Oct. 8 in both teams’ Mountain West Conference openers.
