Test subject
WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- A volunteer test subject sits in a mock-up ejection seat at the Air Force Research Laboratory's human effectiveness directorate here. The seat is fitted with a special device that measures how much pressure is being exerted on the seat cushion and where the "hot spots" are located. Those "hot spots" can cause reduced blood flow leading to blood clots and other physiological problems. The goal of the testing is to develop improved cushions.
