Melanie Streeter Air Force Print News WASHINGTON -- The commander of the Tanker Airlift Control Center has received the 2003 Eugene M. Zuckert Management Award.Secretary of the Air Force Dr. James G. Roche presented Brig. Gen. Paul J. Selva with the award during a ceremony at the Pentagon on June 16.“I have the coolest job on the planet, because I get to work with the Airmen (in the) TACC,” General Selva said. “They are who won the award -- I just brought it home.”General Selva led his Airmen to successfully plan, task and execute 65,656 sorties, moving 812,452 passengers, delivering 297,325 tons of cargo and providing air refueling for 9,182 aircraft during operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. It was the second-largest airlift operation in history.He was also recognized for his contributions to Air Mobility Command’s Integrated Flight Management Program. The program allowed a 400-percent increase in sortie production, a 300-percent increase in service to geographic locations, a 228-percent increase in passengers carried and a 10-percent increase in the amount of cargo delivered.Named after Eugene M. Zuckert, who served as secretary of the Air Force from January 1961 to September 1965, this award recognizes outstanding management achievements by a top-level Air Force manager.The general’s name will be added to the Zuckert Award plaque, on display at the Pentagon.
