Air Force journalists win DOD awards Published June 14, 2004 FORT MEADE, Md. (AFPN) -- Air Force print and broadcast journalists won nine categories in the 2003 Thomas Jefferson Awards for excellence in military media. The results were announced by Defense Information School officials here.The awards recognize military and civilian employee print and broadcast journalists for outstanding achievements in furthering the Department of Defense internal information program.The Air Force broadcast winners are:-- Radio Entertainment Program: “The Bob and Casbah Show," with Tech. Sgts. Chris Eder and Bob Herron of Armed Forces Network Iraq.-- Radio Report: "Patriot Thunder," by Tech. Sgt. Rusty Barfield of Air Force News Agency’s Detachment 10, Operation Location B at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii.-- Local TV Newscast: "Incirlik Nightly News," AFNEWS Det. 7 at Incirlik Air Base, Turkey.-- Outstanding Flagship TV Program: "Air Force Television News," Air Force News Service, AFNEWS headquarters in San Antonio.The Air Force print-media winners are:-- Newsletter-format Publication: Associate Press, 446th Airlift Wing at McChord AFB, Wash.-- Commentary: "Why I Give to the Combined Federal Campaign," by Geoff Janes of Warner Robins Air Logistics Center at Robins AFB, Ga.-- Photojournalism: "Spirit of the Dance," by Staff Sgt.
