Denver shuts out Air Force, 7-0, in women's tennis

The 40th-ranked University of Denver Pioneers blanked Air Force, 7-0, in women's tennis action here April 7. The Pioneers swept all nine singles and doubles matches for their 13th consecutive win and fifth consecutive shutout. Air Force falls to 13-7 with the loss.

Denver won all six doubles matches in straight sets, with the closest match coming at the No. 1 position, where Yanick Dullens defeated Laura Nigro, 7-6, 6-2. The Pioneers only lost 22 games in 12 sets.

The Pioneers breezed to the doubles point with 8-5 victories at No. 1 and No. 2. Dullens and Suzana Maksovic beat Nigro and Gina Black at No. 1, while Jenny Trettin and Barb Kourim defeated Kat Bushey and Karissa Walker at the No. 2 slot. Rachel Sackmaster and Marisa Mechem handed Katie Tomkie and Liza Vaccaro an 8-4 loss at No. 3.

Air Force resumes play in the Mountain West Conference with a pair of matches in Provo, Utah. The Falcons will play Utah on April 9 and Brigham Young University on April 10.
