Air Force taps 160 officers for pilot, navigator training

Nearly 200 officers were recently selected as a primary or alternate to attend specialized undergraduate pilot and navigator training.

The Specialized Undergraduate Flying Training Selection Board met at the Air Force Personnel Center here March 2 to 5. The board considered active-duty Air Force applicants for training.

The board considered 249 applications and selected 150 pilots in the ranks of second lieutenant through captain to attend training, including sending 16 people to Euro NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training. They also considered 19 applications and selected 10 navigators in the ranks of second lieutenant through captain.

The board identified 19 pilot alternates and five navigator alternates. Some selects will be placed into classes as early as May, June or July, while others may fill positions throughout fiscal 2005.
