Standardization program announces awards

Officials from the Defense Standardization Program Office recognized Air Force people and teams with awards for outstanding contributions to the Department of Defense in fiscal 2003. The awards were presented March 16 during a ceremony in Lansdowne, Va.

The following received awards:

Individuals

-- Alfredo Berard, senior electronics engineer, 46th Test Wing/flight division, Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. Mr. Berard directed an international team of industry and DOD experts in the field of flight-test telemetry.

-- James Byrd, avionics systems engineering branch, Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio. Mr. Byrd led the Air Force effort to develop a revision D to Military Standard 1760, which provides interoperability of weapons across a variety of aircraft.

-- Clem Huckins, Electronic Systems Center, Hanscom AFB, Mass. Mr. Huckins led a group of technical experts in developing Standardization Agreement 4607, the NATO ground moving target indicator format.

Teams

-- The Joint Strike Fighter program office, air vehicle directorate, Weapons Integration Integrated Product Team. The team created a joint service store certification guide that significantly reduced unique weapon requirements. The Air Force team member is Capt. John Brady, Air Armament Center, Arlington, Va.

-- Navy/Air Force/Aerospace Industry Association. The team developed a common international interactive electronic technical manual. The Air Force team member is Steve Holloway, technical data division, Wright Patterson AFB.
