Pilots land safely after midair collision Published March 10, 2004 SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. (AFPN) -- Two F-16 Fighting Falcons landed here safely after a midair collision over the Atlantic Ocean on March 9. Neither pilot was injured.At the time of the accident, the 79th Fighter Squadron aircraft were on a scheduled air-to-air training mission. A damage assessment is ongoing, and other aircraft from here continue to fly. A board of officers is convening to investigate the accident.
