Sergeant dies from accident injuries Published Feb. 12, 2004 TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. (AFPN) -- A senior official here expressed condolences on behalf of the base to the family of Master Sgt. Jude Mariano, who died Feb. 10, five days after sustaining serious injuries in a two-car collision while deployed to a military base in Qatar. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Master Sergeant Jude Mariano,” said Col. Jim Rennie, 15th Expeditionary Mobility Task Force vice commander. “He was a true warrior and professional, and will be dearly missed by those who knew him and worked with him.” Sergeant Mariano was deployed to the Combined Air Operations Center where he served as an information manager in the air mobility division.Sergeant Mariano and four others were riding in a vehicle when the accident took place about 10:35 p.m. Feb. 5. All five were transported to a local hospital. Two were treated and released. The other two sergeants, Staff Sgt. Hope Arnold and Staff Sgt. Sameka Owens, remain hospitalized. Sergeant Arnold is deployed to the CAOC from Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, and Sergeant Owens from Shaw AFB, S.C.The incident is under investigation.
