Civil engineers receive honors

Three civilian professional associations joined the Air Force in honoring civil engineers Jan 13.

Each year, the Society of American Military Engineers, the National Society of Professional Engineers and the Northeast Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives, partner with the Air Force civil engineer community to sponsor the awards.

Awards winners for 2003 are:

Brigadier General Michael A. McAuliffe Award (best Air Force civil engineer housing flight) -- 3rd Civil Engineer Squadron, Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska.

Major General Robert C. Thompson Award (best Air Force civil engineer resource flight) -- 3rd CES.

Brigadier General Archie S. Mayes Award (best Air Force civil engineer engineering flight) -- 92nd CES, Fairchild AFB, Wash.

Major General Clifton D. Wright Award (best Air Force civil engineer operations flight) -- 7th CES, Dyess AFB, Texas.

Chief Master Sgt. Ralph E. Sanborn Award (best Air Force civil engineer fire protection flight) -- 1st CES, Langley AFB, Va.

Senior Master Sgt. Gerald J. Stryzak Award (best Air Force civil engineer explosive ordnance disposal flight) -- 43rd CES, Pope AFB, N.C.

Col. Frederick J. Riemer Award (best Air Force civil engineer readiness flight) -- Active duty, 8th CES, Kunsan Air Base, South Korea; and Reserve, 114th CES, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Northeast Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives Balchen/Post Award (best snow and ice removal unit) -- 305th CES, McGuire AFB, N.J.

Environmental Flight Award -- 45th CES, Patrick AFB, Fla.

Awards will be presented at the Air Force’s National Engineer’s Week luncheon Feb. 25 in Washington.
