Importance of enlisted force stressed Published Nov. 4, 2003 By Staff Sgt. Dan Clare Air Mobility Command Public Affairs ANAHEIM, Calif. (AFPN) -- Several events focusing on the needs and future the Air Force enlisted force proved that the 35th Airlift Tanker Association convention here was as important to enlisted members as it was for the officer corps, civilians and contractors. The convention, which ran Oct. 30 through Nov. 2, featured seminars and discussions specifically focusing on enlisted issues. This included seminars on serving Air Force families, enlisted-force structuring, and discussions and panels with senior enlisted members."We have everyone here from four-star generals to one-stripers," said Master Sgt. Pat Crowell, an attendee from Pope Air Force Base, N.C. "The conference has everything from family issues to professional development information. This is a career-broadening experience for enlisted folks."Crowell said the conference offered enlisted members an opportunity to communicate their needs and could help the Air Force build and retain junior members. Chief Master Sgt. Scott Jarmon's seminar titled "Incredible Enlisted Corps," covered nearly every personnel and assignment issue facing active-duty airmen. Attendees were able to ask Jarmon, the airmen assignments branch chief for Air Mobility Command, questions about a variety of issues facing the enlisted force."Enlisted kids need to be here," said Chief Master Sgt. Kent Sisco, a personnel superintendent for AMC. "Where else do they get the chance to see these generals and leaders unless (those leaders) they come to their base? Things like this are good for everybody." (Courtesy of AMC News Service)
