General receives management award Published June 25, 2003 SAN ANTONIO (AFPN) -- Lt. Gen. Brian A. Arnold is the winner of the 2002 Eugene M. Zuckert Management Award. Secretary of the Air Force Dr. James G. Roche presented him with the award during a ceremony in the Pentagon on June 24.This award is named after Eugene M. Zuckert, who served as secretary of the Air Force from January 1961 to September 1965. It recognizes outstanding management achievements by a top-level Air Force manager.Arnold is commander of the Space and Missile Systems Center at Los Angeles Air Force Base, Calif. He earned the award for successfully managing space and missile acquisition programs valued at $8 billion and nearly 90 percent of the Air Force’s space budget, according to the award announcement message.He was also lauded for his leadership and support to warfighters during Operation Enduring Freedom. According to the message, the general “crafted new intelligence-sharing arrangements to provide unique, extremely sensitive intelligence to the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force, contributing to homeland security and directly leading to the identification of several individuals of significant interest to law enforcement officials.”During the ceremony, Arnold received a medallion and a citation signed by the secretary. The general’s name will be added to the Zuckert Award plaque displayed in the Pentagon.This award program is administered by Air Force Manpower and Innovation Agency officials at Randolph AFB, Texas.
