Two airmen were among 12 federal employees who were honored as recipients of the 2002 Arthur S. Flemming Awards in a ceremony June 5 at George Washington University, D.C.

Flemming Awards honor people with three to 15 years of government experience for their extraordinary contributions in three categories -- administrative, applied science and science.

The Air Force winners, both in the administrative category, are Dan Wayne Christenson of the Ogden Air Logistics Center at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, and Capt. Nicholl R. Dudley, a personnel officer for Air Combat Command headquarters at Langley Air Force Base, Va.

Christenson was honored for his performance as a leader, supervisor and innovator in the maintenance directorate’s software-engineering division at the logistics center. His skill, leadership and innovation in planning, programming and directing engineering developments and sustainment programs have resulted in significant improvements to Air Force weapon system operational availability while reducing overall sustainment costs, according to his nomination package.

Dudley was recognized for her performance as a personnel officer in various assignments. Additionally, she represented the United States by welcoming more than 100 distinguished visitors and foreign heads of state to the nation’s capital while working at the Air Force’s largest and most visible protocol operation, according to personnel officials at Langley.
