Wife turned over to U.S. marshals

An Air Force wife has been turned over to U.S. marshals and returned to the United States following the death of her husband.

Latasha Lorraine Arnt was turned over to the custody of two U.S. marshals here June 1. She had been detained on base since May 27 in connection with the death of her husband, Staff Sgt. Matthias A. Arnt III, who died here at approximately 1:30 a.m. May 27.

The U.S. attorney's office for the Central District of California assumed jurisdiction of the case May 28 under the Military Extraterritorial Jurisdiction Act.

Arnt was formally indicted by the grand jury for the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California on May 30. Sergeant Arnt was assigned to the 39th Security Forces Squadron here. A memorial service and retreat ceremony were held in his honor at the base May 29.
