Officials announce 2002 operations awards

Air Force officials announced the winners of the 2002 Air Force Airfield Operations Awards on April 14.

The unit award winners are:

-- Airfield Operations Flight Complex of the Year -- 51st Operations Support Squadron, Osan Air Base, South Korea.

-- D. Ray Hardin Air Traffic Control Facility of the Year -- 75th OSS, Hill Air Force Base, Utah.

-- Airfield Management Facility of the Year -- 314th OSS, Little Rock AFB, Ark.

The individual award winners for airfield management are:

-- Airfield Management Airman of the Year -- Senior Airman Michelle V. Houston, 46th OSS, Eglin AFB, Fla.

-- Airfield Management Noncommissioned Officer of the Year -- Tech. Sgt. Scott D. Parrish, 97th OSS, Altus AFB, Okla.

-- Airfield Management Senior NCO of the Year -- Master Sgt. Robert J. Lewis, 48th OSS, Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England.

-- Airfield Management Civilian Journeyman/Technician of the Year -- Kil-Yong Ko, 51st OSS.

-- Airfield Management Civilian Supervisor of the Year -- Terry S. George, 51st OSS.

-- Airfield Management Training Achievement Award -- Tech. Sgt. Charlotte L. Jones, 18th OSS, Kadena AB, Japan.

The individual award winners for air traffic control are:

-- Air Traffic Control Enlisted Manager of the Year -- Senior Master Sgt. Everette C. Whitfield, 31st OSS, Aviano, Italy.

-- Air Traffic Controller of the Year -- Staff Sgt. Tracy Clifton, 51st OSS.

-- Air Traffic Control Watch Supervisor of the Year -- Tech. Sgt. Angela K. Bennett, 56th OSS, Luke AFB, Ariz.

-- Air Traffic Control Training Achievement Award -- Master Sgt. David L. Bowles, 80th OSS, Sheppard AFB, Texas.

The individual award winners for airfield operations staff are:

-- Col. Derrel L. Dempsey Airfield Operations Officer of the Year -- Maj. John A. Gasner, 51st OSS.

-- Terminal Instrument Procedures Specialist of the Year -- Master Sgt. Mario J. Gonzalez, 80th OSS.
