Officials announce civil engineer awards

Air Force officials and three civil engineer civilian organizations announced the Air Force's annual civil engineer awards Jan. 8.

The Air Force civil engineer community partners with the Society of American Military Engineers, the National Society of Professional Engineers, and the Northeast Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives each year to sponsor the awards. Awards categories and winners are:

-- The 7th Civil Engineer Squadron at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, was awarded the Brig. Gen. Michael A. McAuliffe Award for the best Air Force civil engineer housing flight.

-- The 37th CES at Lackland AFB, Texas, was awarded the Maj. Gen. Robert C. Thompson Award for the best Air Force civil engineer resources flight.

-- The 366th CES at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho, was awarded the Brig. Gen. Archie S. Mayes Award for the best Air Force civil engineer engineering flight.

-- The 437th CES at Charleston AFB, S.C., was awarded the Maj. Gen. Clifton D. Wright Award for the best Air Force civil engineer operations flight.

-- The 18th CES at Kadena Air Base, Japan, was awarded the Chief Master Sgt. Ralph E. Sanborn Award for the best Air Force civil engineer fire protection flight.

-- The 18th CES at Kadena, was awarded the Senior Master Sgt. Gerald J. Stryzak Award for the best Air Force civil engineer explosive ordnance disposal flight.

-- The 305th CES at McGuire AFB, N.J., was awarded the Col. Frederick J. Riemer Award for the best Air Force civil engineer readiness flight.

-- The 56th CES at Luke AFB, Ariz., was awarded the Environmental Flight Award.

-- Chief Master Sgt. James A. Martin of the 18th CES at Kadena, was awarded the Maj. Gen. Joseph A. Ahearn Enlisted Leadership Award

-- Capt. Charles D. Perham from Air Combat Command headquarters at Langley AFB, Va., was awarded the Maj. Gen. William D. Gilbert Award (officer category).

-- Master Sgt. Troy D. Odden from the 7th Air Force at Osan AB, South Korea, was awarded the Maj. Gen. William D. Gilbert Award (enlisted category).

-- Sheila Schwartz from Air Mobility Command headquarters at Scott AFB, Ill., was awarded the Maj. Gen. William D. Gilbert Award (civilian category).

-- Michael R. Toriello from the 355th CES at Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz., was awarded the Harry P. Rietman Award (senior civilian manager).

-- Lt. Col. Michael P. Conner from the 823rd Red Horse Squadron, Hurlburt Field, Fla., was named the outstanding civil engineer senior military manager.

-- Capt. Christine Y. Rilovick from the 775th CES at Hill AFB, Utah, was awarded the Maj. Gen. Eugene A. Lupia Award for outstanding civil engineer military manager.

-- Senior Master Sgt. Kevin N. Remedies from the 86th CES at Ramstein AB, Germany, was awarded the Chief Master Sgt. Larry R. Daniels Award for outstanding civil engineer military superintendent.

-- Tech. Sgt. Max B. Babbitt from the 9th CES at Beale AFB, Calif., was awarded the Maj. Gen. Eugene A. Lupia Award for outstanding civil engineer military technician.

-- Steven A. Robertson from the 305th CES at McGuire AFB, N.J., was named the outstanding civil engineer civilian manager.

-- Colin X. King from the 48th CES at Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England, was named the outstanding civil engineer civilian supervisor.

-- Paul A. Claydon from the 48th CES at RAF Lakenheath, was named the outstanding civil engineer civilian technician.

-- Maj. James E. Lehman from the 4th CES at Seymour Johnson AFB, N.C., was named the outstanding civil engineer individual mobilization augmentee (officer manager).

-- Master Sgt. Karen D. Craft from the 347th CES at Moody AFB, Ga., was named the outstanding civil engineer individual mobilization augmentee (enlisted manager).

-- Michael T. Flahive of AMC headquarters at Scott, was named the outstanding community planner.

-- Col. James T. Ryburn of ACC headquarters at Langley, was awarded the Society of American Military Engineers' Newman Medal.

-- Master Sgt. Allen E. Jedlicki from the 49th Materiel Maintenance Squadron at Holloman AFB, N.M., was awarded the SAME Goddard Medal (active-duty category).

-- Senior Master Sgt. Larry P. Lomax from the Air Force Civil Engineer Support Agency at Tyndall AFB, Fla., was awarded the SAME Goddard Medal (Reserves category).

-- Chief Master Sgt. Kenneth C. Wolf from the 179th CES in Mansfield, Ohio, was awarded the SAME Goddard Medal (Air National Guard category).

-- Lt. Col. Gary D. Chesley of ACC headquarters at Langley, was named the National Society of Professional Engineers Federal Engineer of the Year (military category).

-- James L. Greene from AFCESA at Tyndall, was named the National Society of Professional Engineers Federal Engineer of the Year (civilian category).
