Officials release F-15 mishap report Published Dec. 19, 2002 LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. (AFPN) -- According to an accident investigation board report released by Air Combat Command Dec. 19, there were two main factors that caused an F-15 Eagle mishap at Eglin AFB, Fla., Sept. 3. The pilot incorrectly executed his landing sequence, and he landed 60 feet short of the runway striking a trench prior to the runway.The pilot was taking part in a four-ship, two-versus-two night intercept-training mission.
