EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command began a counter unmanned aerial systems experiment Sept. 3.

The purpose of this experiment, known as Falcon Peak, is to examine potential use of technology to detect, track, identify, and defeat small UAS threats.  This is accomplished by using c-UAS system capabilities to address the growing threat to U.S. military installations. 

Between Sept. 3 and 19, UASs will launch off Santa Rosa Island from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Vessels are required to remain clear of this hazard area during these times. Hot range advisories and local notice to mariners will be broadcast on Channel16 and on HF upper sideband 2182 KHZ by the Eglin Joint Test and Training Operations Control Center.
