DFAS pays all Department of Defense military service members, civilian personnel, retirees, annuitants, major DoD contractors and vendors, and is also a shared services provider, supporting electronic government initiatives in partnership with customers such as the Executive Office of the President, the Department of Energy, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Health and Human Services and the Broadcasting Board of Governors.
