A hand-carved wooden figure recovered and saved from shredding by a truck driver during post-Hurricane Helene waterway debris removal operations serves as a symbol of resilience in Ashville, North Carolina, June 9, 2025. The figure, now known as “Rocky Ellis” is a reminder of the lives impacted by the storm for the scores of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers employees and contractors helping communities heal.

The video contains music from a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers licensed asset from Megatrax.
