The first Undergraduate Pilot Training Class 71-01, "First of the Finest," started July 17, 1969, on Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi and 50 years later pilot training continues as Specialized UPT. One of the students from the class 71-01 returned to Columbus AFB, continuing his aviation journey as a 14th Operations Group simulator instructor for students in Phase III.
