Three months after the 407th Expeditionary Services Squadron Muscle Beach Fitness Center's version of the "Biggest Loser" competition began, the winning loser who is deployed from Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, said "aloha" to 31 pounds.

"Even if I didn't win by losing the most weight, I would have won just because I have lost the weight," said Staff Sgt. David Hart of the 407th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron.

Sergeant Hart was given a $20 gift certificate for winning first place.

"It took a lot of discipline to lose the weight. I haven't had a soda in months," he said.

When Sergeant Hart wasn't performing his duties as the field ordering officer, he was working in other ways to become the biggest loser. Sergeant Hart said he spent time sweating it out at spinning class, keeping active and watching his food portions.

"This is the best I've ever felt," Sergeant Hart said.

His driver's license picture is what drove him to succeed. But, he said he still has about nine pounds to go.

"I've got to look good in Hawaii," he said.

Taking second place for losing 25 pounds was Senior Airman Evan Henderson of the 407th Expeditionary Communications Squadron who is deployed from Tinker AFB, Okla.

Third place went to Staff Sgt. Reginald Colbert, a 407th ECS member who is deployed from Little Rock AFB, Ark. Sergeant Colbert lost 22 pounds.

"I think the competition went very well," said Staff Sgt. Alecia Dunmire, the NCO in charge of the fitness center. "We started out with 20 personnel and 13 finished the competition. If they needed a workout plan, we would help them develop one. I feel these events help the Airmen by building self confidence and by helping pass the time."
