Airmen go to Sri Lanka
KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- A team from several squadrons here board a C-17 Globemaster III for a 45-day deployment to Sri Lanka. The team deployed as part of disaster relief following the 9.0 magnitude earthquake that struck off the coast of Indonesia causing tsunami waves that have affected 12 countries and has killed more than 150,000 people. The 18th Wing is providing relief supplies and personnel to help with the humanitarian effort. The team is composed of Airmen form the base's 718th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, 33d Aircraft Maintenance Unit, 33rd Rescue Squadron, 18th Logistics Readiness Squadron, and 18th Maintenance Squadron.
