MANAS AIR BASE, Kyrgyzstan -- Col. Michael Sumida stands in front of a C-130 Hercules on the flightline here. The colonel was a C-130 navigator on the attempted mission to rescue hostages during the Iranian hostage crisis in 1980. April 24 and 25 mark the 24th anniversary of the attempt.
