Planes over water

AIR FORCE PHOTOS

A parachute bundle with the Joint Precision Airdrop System, or JPADS, is airdropped from a C-130J Hercules to a remote forward operating base Nov. 27, 2011, in Afghanistan. JPADS uses GPS navigation to guide parachute bundles to precise drop zones, minimizing collateral damage, troops' ground travel, and the vulnerability of the aircraft.
