Air Force Targets Heat Plants for Energy Savings
This is one of four central heat plants at Tinker AFB, Okla., under consideration for decentralization. The plant produces steam, which is piped throughout the base for heating and other processes. Centralized heat plants are under scrutiny across the Air Force because they waste a lot of energy. Many are only 50 to 60 percent efficient. (U.S. Air Force photo/Bill Dalke)
