A C-17 Globemaster III takes off from Christchurch, New Zealand, June 29, 2011, in support of a medical evacuation of an ailing National Science Foundation government contractor from McMurdo Station Antarctica. The aircraft, stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., is tactically assigned to the 304th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron as part of the Joint Task Force-Support Forces Antarctica medical evacuation mission.
