Life-saving mission
Members of the 18th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron Det. 1 and 13th Air Force surgeon general's office transport a critically ill patient out of the rear of a C-17 Globemaster III May 22, 2011, at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. The patient was aeromedically evacuated from Lyndon B. Johnson Tropical Medical Center in Pago Pago, American Samoa, after he aspirated following a seizure that left him completely reliant on a ventilator to breathe. After arriving in Hawaii, the patient was transferred to Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii. (U.S. Air Force photo/Senior Airman Lauren Main)
