Wounded warrior gets perfect fit
Retired Army Staff Sgt. Shilo Harris is fitted for prosthetic ears Oct. 5, 2010, at Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. A wax model of the ear is molded first to ensure proper placement and fit before applying the prosthetic. The Maxillofacial Prosthetics Department at WHMC employs a team that deals with the rehabilitation of patients with acquired and congenital defects of the head and neck region. They are one of only a few in the Department of Defense that creates prosthetic body parts, such as eyes, ears and noses. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Robert Barnett)
