Air Force Week New York City Public Service Award
Mr. Chester Burger talks about his experiences that lead to his being awarded the Air Force Distinguished Public Service Award on Aug. 24, 2010, while aboard the USS Intrepid. Mr. Chester Burger served as an Air Force advocate under the Public Affairs Advisory Group in New York City for more than 15 years. He worked to bring awareness to the contributions of servicemen in NYC. His award ceremony followed the Air Force Week New York City proclamation ceremony on the USS Intrepid. The event at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum was highlighted by a six-ship flyover by the USAF Thunderbirds. The Honorable Michael Donley, Secretary of the Air Force attended, along with General Raymond Johns, Commander of Air Mobility Command. The Police Commissioner of the City of New York, the Honorable Raymond Kelly, represented NYC. Mr. Greg Kelly of "Good Day New York" was emcee for this event. (U.S. Air Force photo/Lance Cheung)
