It's a gas

Staff Sgt. Brian McCaslin holds the "dead-man switch" during a refueling operation of a KC-135 Stratotanker Jan. 5 at a Southwest Asia air base. As its name suggests, the switch is a device intended to stop the fuel process in case the human operator becomes incapacitated, and is a form of fail-safe. Sergeant McCaslin is with the 379th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron and is deployed from the Ebbing Air National Guard, at Fort Smith Ark. His hometown is Springdale, Ark. (U. S.
