Planes over water

AIR FORCE PHOTOS

The grateful crew of the stranded British fishing vessel, Argos Georgia, show their appreciation to the crew of the C-17 Globemaster who just airdropped much-needed parts and supplies. The Argos Georgia had suffered serious engine failure from negotiating ice while heading south in the Ross Sea in the Antarctica, leaving it without propulsion and drifting with the ice. The aircraft and the aircrews and support personnel from the 62nd Airlift Wing and 446th AW at McChord Air Force Base, Wash., are currently deployed to Christchurch to support the 13th Air Force-led Joint Task Force-Support Forces Antarctica, Operation Deep Freeze.
