Checking the burn
Staff Sgt. Anthony Phillips prepares a sample of engine oil from an A-10C Thunderbolt II to be analyzed by a spectrometer at Al Asad Air Base, Iraq. The spectrometer burns fluids to discover contaminants that would signify wear and tear to the aircraft's engines. Sergeant Phillip is a nondestructive inspections technician with the 438th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, and is deployed from the Kentucky Air National Guard's 123rd Tactical Airlift Wing.
