Checking the burn

A 438th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron spectrometer burns A-10 Thunderbolt II engine oil to measure for impurities that would signify wear and tear to the aircraft's engines at Al Asad Air Base, Iraq. Impurities are carefully measured by parts per million to ensure the aircraft is ready to perform combat missions. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. D. Clare)
