Shaw pilots hear better with new earpiece
2nd Lt. Chris Reichlen (left) inserts silicone based mixture into the ear of Capt. Jerad Hand to make an inner-ear mold for the Attenuating Custom Communications Earpiece System Sept. 14 at Shaw Air Force Base, S.C. The ACCES device will significantly reduce surrounding ambient noise that pilots hear in the cockpit and increase the efficiency of radio communications. Lieutenant Reichlen is a 20th Aerospace Medicine Squadron aerospace physiologist, and Captain Hand is a 79th Fighter Squadron F-16 Fighting Falcon pilot.
