Arctic Warriors join battle against MS

Maj. Julie Ostrand and Capt. Wendy Koehler dodge mud and water as they arrive in Seward after completing the first leg of the Alaska Multiple Sclerosis Bike Ride Sept. 8 along a section of the Seward Highway in the Kenai Peninsula, Alaska. The ride took participants from Mile 63 on the Kenai Peninsula along the Seward Highway to Seward, Alaska. Consistent and sometimes heavy rains didn't prevent Major Ostrand and Captain Koehler, both nurse practitioners at the 3rd Medical Group, and other Airmen from Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska, from completing the ride, which took place Sept. 8 and 9. People who took the 126-mile, round-trip ride saw extreme elevation gains challenging even the most experienced of the 200 riders. All proceeds from this event went to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Keith Brown)
